Exploring Thanh Tien: Hue's 300-Year-Old Traditional Paper Flower Village

Nestled along the lower banks of the Perfume River, just 8km from Truong Tien Bridge, lies the ancient village of Thanh Tien. However, the most famous creation is the paper lotus. These lotuses are so realistic that they have been featured in major events like the Hue Festival and are permanently displayed in the Hue Citadel and the Nguyen Chi Dieu Memorial House.

Visiting the village during the year-end season is a sensory delight. You can witness artisans like Mr. Nguyen Hoa and Mrs. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, who have practiced the craft for over 40 years, split bamboo into thin stalks to create the stems. The petals are cut using iron chisels and hand-folded to create natural textures.
