00Spending the first Lunar New Year (Tet) at a husband's family home is a memorable and often nerve-wracking milestone for any newlywed woman. Several famous Vietnamese celebrities, including actress Le Khanh, Miss Vietnam Do My Linh, Thuy Diem, Thanh Thuy, and Hari Won, have opened up about their personal experiences, sharing heartwarming and humorous stories of adapting to new family traditions.
For actress Le Khanh, who married Tuan Khai in late 2014, her first Tet in her husband's hometown was filled with warmth. She fondly recalls asking her mother-in-law to teach her how to cook a traditional mixed porridge so she could recreate it for the family later. Miss Vietnam Do My Linh, who married in late 2022, admitted to feeling quite lost during her first Tet as a daughter-in-law. Under the gentle guidance of her mother-in-law, she learned how to prepare and arrange the traditional Tet feast, a task she rarely did at her own home.
Actress Thuy Diem shared that her first Tet in Tien Giang with Luong The Thanh's large family was initially overwhelming because she had to remember the names and relations of numerous relatives. However, the warm atmosphere quickly eased her anxiety. Similarly, actress Thanh Thuy recalled a humorous moment from her youth when she had to call her father for step-by-step instructions over the phone to cook traditional Tet dishes for her new mother-in-law, resulting in a surprisingly delicious meal. Meanwhile, singer Hari Won shared a lighter experience, praising her in-laws for being incredibly pampered, allowing her and Tran Thanh to rest and perform without any domestic pressure.
