00The year 2021 was a landmark period for Vietnam Social Security (BHXH Việt Nam), characterized by rapid adaptation, digital innovation, and comprehensive support for citizens and businesses during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the severe economic impacts of the global health crisis, the organization successfully implemented several key national policies, ensuring social welfare and health insurance coverage for millions of Vietnamese citizens across the country.
One of the most significant achievements of the year was the rapid deployment of the historic 30-trillion VND support package from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (Quỹ BHTN) under Government Resolution No. 116/NQ-CP. In record time, Vietnam Social Security adjusted the contribution rates for over 363,000 employers and distributed direct financial aid to nearly 13 million workers, providing critical relief when it was needed most. Additionally, voluntary social security participation saw remarkable growth, with over 1.3 million participants registered by the end of the year, showcasing a strong public trust in national social security policies.
In terms of digital transformation, the organization made giant leaps by fully updating the national insurance database covering over 98 million citizens, aligning with Decree No. 43/2021/NĐ-CP. The launch of the "VssID - BHXH số" mobile application reached nearly 25 million users, allowing citizens to easily manage their social security records, track contributions, and use digital health insurance cards for medical examinations. This digital shift not only streamlined administrative processes but also supported local authorities in pandemic tracking, vaccine distribution, and healthcare management. Through these outstanding efforts, Vietnam Social Security has firmly established itself as a modern, efficient, and citizen-centric public service provider.
