00Car enthusiasts in Vietnam were treated to a rare sight as a fleet of 26 classic vehicles from the 'Rally the Globe' club began an ambitious journey across Southeast Asia. Starting in Ho Chi Minh City and concluding in Hanoi, this month-long expedition features some of the most prestigious automotive legends in the world. Among the highlights is a 1947 Bentley Speed 8, a masterpiece of British engineering that still commands attention on modern roads. The Bentley brand is well-represented in the rally, with five different models participating, including the incredibly rare 1927 Bentley 4 1/2 Litre Le Mans. This nearly century-old vehicle features a 4.5L 4-cylinder engine and was a dominant force in early 20th-century racing.
The rally isn't just about British luxury; German precision is on full display with several Porsche 911 models. A 1972 Porsche 911, powered by a 2.3L 6-cylinder engine, showcases the timeless silhouette that defined the sports car era. Mercedes-Benz fans can admire the 1971 Mercedes 350 SL, a V8-powered convertible that epitomizes 70s elegance. Other notable participants include a 1961 Volvo PV544 from Sweden, a muscle-bound 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible from the UK, and a nimble 1971 Fiat 124 Spider. The oldest car in the group is a stunning 1934 Aston Martin Mark II, a two-door classic with over 80 years of history. Following their start in Dong Nai, the convoy will pass through Da Nang, Siem Reap, Chiang Mai, and Luang Prabang before returning to northern Vietnam. This rally is a testament to the enduring craftsmanship of these historic machines.
