Saudi Arabia shut a key east-west pipeline bypassing the Strait of Hormuz and suspended loadings at the Red Sea port of Yanbu, stoking supply fears. 6. EUROPE LOWER, L'OREAL OVERTAKES LVMH
FTSE 100 -0.37% at 10,658.13; DAX -0.15% at 25,402.28; CAC 40 -0.34% at 8,090.28; Euro Stoxx 50 -0.38%. L'Oreal overtook LVMH as France's most valuable listed company, with market value around $234.5bn versus $231.4bn; it is the first time since 2017 that a non-luxury name topped the Paris market at the close.
7. ASIA OPEN MIXED ON SEPT 16
The Nikkei 225 opened 0.30% higher at 63,672.13; the KOSPI fell 0.24% to 6,611.24. 8. IRAN CLAIMS SHOOTING DOWN THREE US DRONES
Iran's IRGC said it shot down three US MQ-1 drones over the Strait of Hormuz on Sept 15; this claim has not been independently confirmed. The US Defense Department has reported Iran-related costs above $42bn. The tension is supporting oil prices.
