001. BITCOIN BREAKS BELOW $77,000 — FOURTH STRAIGHT LOSING SESSION.
Bitcoin traded between roughly $76,862 and $77,123, down about 1.7% to 2.34% in 24 hours, with an intraday low at $76,748. Some sources put BTC near $76,864 (-1.83%) and down 4.77% for the week. The main pressure is macro: US August PPI rose 5.4% year-over-year, Brent crude traded near $109 a barrel, the 10-year Treasury yield approached 5%, and the 30-year yield hit 5.353%, the highest since June 2007; rate markets priced a 69.8% chance of a 25-basis-point Fed hike at the September 16 meeting. The sell-off is also amplified by leveraged long liquidations.
2. ETHER RELATIVELY STEADY AROUND $2,460-$2,470.
ETH was nearly flat at $2,468.61, up 0.09% in 24 hours and holding the $2,445-$2,521 range. While Bitcoin fell, Ether offered relative safety; US spot Ethereum ETFs drew $34.75 million over September 8-9, opposite to Bitcoin ETF outflows. Still, ETH liquidations reached $105.30 million, showing long positions remain vulnerable.
3. BROAD ALTCOIN SELL-OFF, ZCASH LEADS LOSSES.
Most altcoins traded in the red: Zcash dropped 14.21% to $1,066.65; Bitcoin Cash slid 9.34%; Bittensor lost 8.28%; XRP declined 4.1% to $1.37; BNB fell 1.57% to $711.89; Solana lost its $103 support and traded around $99.65-$100. On the opposite side, Raydium gained 26.19%, a rare bright spot amid the sell-off. Sector data showed PayFi down 4.36%, Layer 2 down 4.14%, DeFi down 2.87%, and Meme down 3.39% in 24 hours.
4. LIQUIDATIONS TOP $346 MILLION.
Total liquidations across the top 20 coins hit $346.9 million in 24 hours, with longs accounting for 86.35% ($299.55 million). Bitcoin recorded $120.46 million in liquidations (91% longs), Ethereum $105.30 million, Zcash $23.30 million, Solana $17.51 million, and XRP $13.11 million. Crowded long positions created a cascade once support levels broke, accelerating the decline.
5. ETF FLOWS DIVERGE.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted outflows of $46.6 million on September 8 and $120.2 million on September 9, according to Farside data. In contrast, spot Ether ETFs attracted $34.75 million over the same period. Notably, US XRP spot ETFs extended their inflow streak to eight weeks, with cumulative inflows around $1.682 billion. This suggests institutional capital is rotating within crypto rather than leaving the whole asset class.
6. MARKET CAP COOLS, SENTIMENT MIXED.
Total crypto market capitalization ranged roughly $2.50 trillion to $2.62 trillion, implying a 1.13%-1.85% decline in 24 hours depending on the source. The CoinMarketCap 20 index slipped 2.10% to 158.41. Sentiment indicators were mixed: the Crypto Fear & Greed Index was reported at 55 (neutral) by some sources and 67 (greed) by others, showing disagreement on risk appetite.
What to watch today: US Treasury yields and Fed rate expectations ahead of the September 16 FOMC meeting may continue to drive market sentiment.
