March Car Sales: Record Discounts on Mercedes, Ford, and Honda in Vietnam

The Vietnamese automotive market is currently witnessing an unprecedented wave of price cuts as manufacturers and dealers struggle to clear inventory and stimulate demand. Following a sluggish start to 2024, many high-end and popular models are seeing discounts ranging from hundreds of millions to nearly a billion Vietnamese Dong. This 'inventory clearance' phase is particularly focused on vehicles manufactured in 2022 (VIN 2022) and 2023 (VIN 2023), offering a unique window for buyers to secure luxury and family vehicles at prices rarely seen in the region. From Mercedes-Benz to Nissan, the competition to capture the consumer's wallet is fiercer than ever.

Leading the charge in luxury discounts is Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV). The German automaker has announced record reductions for its VIN 2022 stock. The most significant drop is for the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4MATIC+ Coupe FL, which has been slashed by 719 million VND, bringing its price down to under 6 billion VND. Other models like the GLE 450 and the GLB 200 AMG have also seen cuts between 400 and 669 million VND. Similarly, the Ford Explorer VIN 2022 is now priced at 1.999 billion VND, a massive 400 million VND reduction from its original tag. These moves are clearly aimed at making room for the 2024 upgrades expected later this year.

In the more accessible segments, Honda and Nissan are also playing the discount game. Honda is offering 100% registration fee support plus cash gifts for the CR-V (VIN 2023) and the City sedan, with total benefits reaching up to 140 million VND. The Nissan Kicks e-Power, a popular hybrid choice, is now available for as low as 658 million VND after a 200 million VND discount. Even 'national' favorites like the Toyota Vios and Veloz Cross are seeing price adjustments to stay competitive. This market shift is a direct response to a record-breaking sales slump, where February 2024 figures dropped 50% compared to the previous year. For savvy car shoppers, March is proving to be the most strategic time to buy.
