The Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history is legendary for its epic battles, brilliant strategists, and heroic warriors. However, it was also defined by some of the most beautiful and influential women in Chinese history. Among them, Diaochan, Sun Shangxiang, Da Qiao, and Xiao Qiao stand out not only for their breathtaking beauty but also for their tragic and mysterious fates, which have captivated historians and writers for centuries.

Diaochan, recognized as one of the Four Great Beauties of ancient China, possessed a beauty said to outshine the moon. She famously used her charms in a brilliant 'beauty trap' orchestrated by her foster father, Wang Yun, to drive a wedge between the tyrannical warlord Dong Zhuo and his formidable warrior son, Lu Bu. While her mission succeeded and Lu Bu eventually slew Dong Zhuo, Diaochan's fate after Lu Bu's defeat by Cao Cao remains a complete mystery. Some legends claim she was executed, while others suggest she became a Buddhist nun and lived out her days in quiet isolation.

Similarly tragic was the life of Sun Shangxiang (Lady Sun), the fierce sister of Sun Quan and wife of Liu Bei. Known for her sharp mind, martial arts skills, and strong-willed nature, she was a formidable figure in her own right. Following Liu Bei's devastating defeat at the Battle of Yiling, false rumors of his death reached her. Overcome with grief, she reportedly threw herself into a river to end her life, marking a sorrowful end to her heroic tale.

Finally, the Qiao Sisters of Jiangdong—Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao—were celebrated for their grace, intelligence, and artistic talents. Married to the powerful leader Sun Ce and the brilliant strategist Zhou Yu, respectively, their beauty was so legendary that it was rumored to be one of the main motivations behind Cao Cao's invasion during the Battle of Red Cliffs. Despite their high status, both sisters became young widows when their husbands died prematurely. Following their husbands' deaths, both Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao vanished from historical records, leaving their final years shrouded in mystery.
