00The 2024 Geneva Motor Show witnessed the triumphant return of a legend: the Renault 5 E-Tech. This all-electric reincarnation of the classic French hatchback has captured the imagination of the European market, racking up an astounding 50,000 pre-orders shortly after its debut. With a starting price of around 25,000 euros (approximately 674 million VND), the Renault 5 E-Tech is positioned as one of the most accessible and stylish electric vehicles (EVs) in the region. Developed by Ampere, Renault's dedicated EV sub-brand, this car represents a perfect marriage of retro charm and futuristic technology.
Built on the innovative AmpR Small platform—a dedicated EV evolution of the CMF-B chassis—the Renault 5 E-Tech is a compact urban warrior. Its dimensions (3,920 mm length) make it perfect for navigating tight city streets, yet its design is anything but small. The car features bold LED accents, including a unique battery charge indicator located on the hood, inspired by the air intake of the original 1972 model. The flared fenders pay homage to the legendary Renault 5 Turbo, giving this eco-friendly car a high-performance silhouette. Inside, the cabin is a tech-lover's dream, featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a digital cockpit, and 'Reno,' a new AI-powered digital assistant developed in collaboration with Google.
Performance-wise, the Renault 5 E-Tech offers three power levels: 70 kW (95 hp), 90 kW (122 hp), and 110 kW (150 hp). Drivers can choose between a 40 kWh or a 52 kWh battery, with the latter providing a range of up to 400 km on a single charge. The car also supports V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) technology, allowing it to feed power back into the home grid—a forward-thinking feature for modern energy management. With sales officially starting in May and deliveries beginning in September, the Renault 5 E-Tech is set to follow in the footsteps of the best-selling Renault Clio. This car isn't just a nostalgic trip; it's a practical, affordable, and exciting step toward a greener future for drivers across Europe and beyond.
