00In a significant move to boost the manufacturing capabilities of Central Vietnam, Samsung Vietnam has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade. The agreement, signed on September 12, 2023, launches a collaborative project aimed at developing smart factories and cultivating high-quality human resources for local enterprises in Da Nang and surrounding areas.
The signing ceremony took place during the 2023 Supporting Industries and Manufacturing Exhibition in Da Nang, attended by prominent officials including Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh, and Mr. Choi Joo Ho, Director General of Samsung Vietnam. This project aims to replicate the successes achieved in Northern and Southern Vietnam, where Samsung has successfully consulted and trained local businesses to integrate modern IT-driven production processes.
Under this 12-week program, expert consultants from South Korea will directly evaluate local factories, providing hands-on training and customized solutions to optimize operations and establish smart factory foundations. Since 2015, Samsung’s collaboration with MoIT has successfully enhanced the competitiveness of 379 Vietnamese enterprises, resulting in a tenfold increase in Vietnamese tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers within Samsung’s global supply chain. This expansion into Central Vietnam underscores Samsung's long-term commitment to the country’s sustainable industrial development.
