Nestled in the Hong Chau region of Ninh Giang, Hai Duong, the Den Tranh Temple (Tranh Xuyên village) stands as a beacon of Vietnamese spiritual history and mystery. Dedicated to the Water God Quan Lon Tuan Tranh—the fifth son of the Dragon King of the Eight Seas—the temple has long been a site of pilgrimage for those seeking luck and protection. However, beyond its architectural beauty lies a series of unexplained phenomena and ancient legends that continue to fascinate locals and tourists alike.

According to local guardians and cultural experts, the Den Tranh Temple is often the site of 'heavenly signs.' During the main festival held in the second lunar month, it is common for the weather to shift dramatically. Legend has it that as soon as the opening drum sounds or the sacred prayers are read, dark clouds often gather directly above the temple, followed by a light rain that clears just as the ceremony concludes. While skeptics point to the natural spring rains of Northern Vietnam, the precision of these occurrences has cemented the temple's reputation for divine intervention.

The festival itself is a vibrant display of Vietnamese intangible cultural heritage. One of the most unique aspects is the 'Water Procession' (Lễ rước nước). Unlike other festivals where processions move between temples, the Den Tranh procession travels to the confluence of the Chanh River—the very spot where the deity is said to have originated. Sacred water is collected from the middle of the river and brought back to the inner sanctum to bathe the statues in a ritual known as 'Muc Duc.' This water is then kept for an entire year as a symbol of purification and blessing. Recently recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage and a 4-star OCOP cultural product, Den Tranh Temple is evolving into a major spiritual tourism destination, connecting the traditions of the past with the curiosity of the modern world.
