The southern province of Binh Duong, Vietnam, is renowned not only for its rapid economic growth but also for preserving rich cultural and spiritual traditions. One of the most spectacular annual events in the region is the Lady Thien Hau Palanquin Procession (Lễ rước kiệu Bà), which brings together thousands of locals and tourists in a grand celebration of faith, community, and cultural heritage.

Traditionally, the main Lady Thien Hau Festival takes place on the 15th day of the first lunar month (the Lantern Festival) at the original Thien Hau Temple in Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot City. However, with the establishment of the second Thien Hau Temple facility in Hoa Phu Ward, Binh Duong New City, a unique procession is now held annually on the 9th day of the first lunar month. This early celebration allows residents and visitors to welcome the blessings of the Goddess of the Sea (Mazu) right at the beginning of the Lunar New Year.

During the procession, the sacred palanquin bearing the statue of Lady Thien Hau is paraded through the major streets of Binh Duong New City. The streets come alive with vibrant colors, traditional music, and spectacular performances by local lion and dragon dance troupes. Crowds line the sidewalks, eagerly waiting for the palanquin to pass so they can pay their respects, burn incense, and pray for peace, luck, and prosperity for their families in the coming year.

This year's festival holds special significance as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the relocation of Binh Duong's administrative agencies to the highly modern Binh Duong New City. The centerpiece of this urban development is the stunning Binh Duong Administrative Center. Built on a vast 20-hectare site, this state-of-the-art complex features two twin 20-story towers, two spacious underground parking levels, and a rooftop helipad. With an investment of over 1.414 trillion VND, the administrative center symbolizes the province's transition into a modern industrial and administrative hub, beautifully blending futuristic infrastructure with deep-rooted cultural festivals like the palanquin procession.

Visitors attending the festival can easily explore both the traditional spiritual atmosphere of the temple and the modern architectural marvels of the surrounding city. The harmonious coexistence of ancient spiritual beliefs and cutting-edge urban design makes Binh Duong a fascinating destination for travelers seeking to experience the dynamic spirit of modern Vietnam.
