Miss World 2024: Mai Phuong and Global Beauties Arrive in India for the 71st Pageant

The highly anticipated 71st Miss World pageant has officially commenced in India, drawing stunning contestants from all corners of the globe. Among the early arrivals who captured the media's attention is Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong, representing Vietnam. Crowned Miss World Vietnam 2022, Mai Phuong arrived in India a day ahead of schedule, showcasing a relaxed and confident demeanor. To ensure she is fully prepared for the intense multi-week competition, she brought an impressive 140 kg of luggage, packed with carefully curated outfits, meaningful gifts, and personal essentials.

Mai Phuong's journey to the Miss World stage has been a test of patience and dedication. Having prepared for nearly two years due to multiple changes in the pageant's schedule and location, she is more ready than ever to make her mark. One of the highlights of her preparation is her performance for the 'Dance of the World' segment, where she will showcase a dance routine set to the viral Vietnamese hit song 'See Tinh'. Known not only for her beauty but also for her outstanding academic background, Mai Phuong boasts an impressive IELTS score of 8.0, making her a strong communicator on the international stage.

As the contestants gather in India, the competition is fierce with outstanding representatives from various nations. Among them is Miss Denmark, Johanne Grundt Hansen, a 21-year-old model and sales assistant with a talent for karate, who turned heads at the airport in a stylish cut-out dress. Miss Lebanon, Yasmina Zaytoun, a 21-year-old journalism student standing at 1.67 meters, also brought her charm and grace to the event. Representing the Dominican Republic is Maria Victoria Bayo, a 24-year-old professional athlete with a degree in Business Administration who is currently training to become a pilot.

Other notable contestants include Peru's Luciana Arellano, Czech Republic's Krystyna Pyszkova—a law graduate pursuing her MBA—and Serbia's Anja Radic, a PR director for a tennis center who dreams of becoming an actress and motivational speaker. Slovakia's Sophia Hrivnakova brings her lifelong passion for dance, while Paraguay's Dahiana Benitez combines her fourth-year law studies with martial arts training. Venezuela's Ariagny Daboin, a clinical psychology graduate, and Ecuador's Annie Zambrano, an English teacher dedicated to elderly care projects, also join the diverse lineup.

Running from February 18 to March 9, the 71st Miss World pageant features 120 contestants competing for the coveted crown. The reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska of Poland, who was named 'Miss of Misses' in 2023, will crown her successor at the grand finale, marking the end of an incredible reign and the beginning of a new chapter for global beauty and advocacy.
