1. WALL STREET RISES ON WEAK US JOBS DATA
Wall Street rose in the October 2 session as weak September payrolls cooled bets on an October Fed rate hike. The Dow added 0.49% to 51,176.96; the S&P 500 gained 0.73% to 7,722.72; the Nasdaq rose 1.19% to 27,190.86, touching an intraday record. For the week, the S&P 500 fell 0.27%, the Nasdaq rose 0.45%, and the Dow lost 1.26%. US nonfarm payrolls increased by only 29,000 in September, well below the roughly 90,000 consensus; the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.2%. August payrolls were revised down to 133,000 from 162,000, and July-August combined were lowered by 60,000. Reuters reported traders priced an 80% probability that the Federal Reserve would hold rates unchanged in October, up from 74% before the data, with December hike odds around 86%.

2. TREASURY YIELDS RISE, DOLLAR SLIPS
The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 4.72 basis points to 5.281%, while the 2-year yield rose 3.98 basis points to 4.827%. Immediately after the jobs report, the 10-year yield briefly fell below 5.2%. The German-French 10-year yield spread hit its widest level since the 2011 euro-zone debt crisis. The US Dollar Index fell 0.17% to 101.92; EUR/USD rose 0.16% to 1.1259; USD/JPY fell 0.18% to 157.79.

3. G7 ANNOUNCES 100-MILLION-BARREL OIL RELEASE
G7 nations agreed to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil from strategic reserves over four months and to refrain from energy export restrictions. US WTI fell as much as 5% intraday, and Brent briefly traded below $100 a barrel. By late Friday, Brent was up 0.45% at $102.77 a barrel, while WTI was down 1% at $91.90. The move aims to ease energy cost pressure linked to Middle East tensions.

4. GOLD DROPS WITH CONFLICTING SOURCE FIGURES
Reuters reported spot gold fell 1.01% to $4,135.68 an ounce. Beritasatu, citing CNBC, reported spot gold down 0.8% to $4,145.68 an ounce and down about 3.3% for the week. The differences may reflect different closing times or data feeds, and no official unified figure was confirmed.

5. EUROZONE INFLATION HITS THREE-YEAR HIGH
Eurozone inflation rose to 3.8% year-on-year in September, the highest in three years. AFP reported that Middle East war-related energy costs were the main driver. The rise reinforces concerns that European price pressures could persist longer than expected amid volatile oil and gas prices.

6. VIETNAM EXCHANGE RATE AND COFFEE PRICES
The State Bank of Vietnam set the USD/VND central rate at 25,636 dong on October 3, with a trading band of 24,405–26,867 dong. Vietcombank quoted a buying rate of 25,760 dong and a selling rate of 26,170 dong. Coffee prices in the Central Highlands fell 800 VND per kilogram to 93,200–94,000 VND per kilogram; September-2026 Arabica futures stood at 279.60 US cents per pound, while near-term Robusta futures edged up. These are key reference levels for import-export firms and coffee growers.

What to watch today: Oil price reaction to the G7 reserve release announcement and USD/VND movements at commercial banks.
