001. BITCOIN RETREATS TO THE $82,000 AREA
Bitcoin changed hands around $81,500–$82,500, down 1.2–2.6% over 24 hours. CoinMarketCap data cited at 07:20 KST showed BTC at $82,522 (-1.21%), while Gate recorded $81,990.7 (-2.1%) and Cointelegraph’s ticker showed $81,518.27 (-2.64%). BTC dominance stood at 59.54%, indicating capital remained concentrated in the largest asset rather than rotating into altcoins. The drop is notable because BTC had touched $84,254 on Bitstamp before reversing, showing strong selling pressure near resistance.
2. ALTCOINS UNDER PRESSURE, SOL AND XRP LEAD DECLINES
ETH, SOL, and XRP fell between roughly 1.8% and 6.2%. CoinMarketCap data showed ETH at $2,486.7 (-1.77%), SOL at $107 (-3.69%), XRP at $1.35 (-3.9%), and Hyperliquid at $1.4 (-3.8%). Cointelegraph reported deeper losses, with ETH at $2,429.11 (-4.27%) and SOL at $104.36 (-6.20%). No major altcoin bucked the trend, reflecting broad risk-off sentiment, and the outsized declines in SOL and XRP are notable because these assets tend to be highly sensitive to speculative flows.
3. OIL RALLIES, GEOPOLITICAL RISK WEIGHS ON SENTIMENT
WTI topped $94 and Brent hit $107.25. West Texas Intermediate crude rose above $94 per barrel, while Brent reached its highest level since September 16 amid Ukraine-Iran and Middle East tensions. Rising energy costs and a stronger U.S. dollar pressured risk assets, including crypto. Investors also turned defensive ahead of the U.S. CPI report due October 14, which could shape Federal Reserve policy expectations.
4. LONG LIQUIDATIONS DOMINATE
Over $195 million in long positions were liquidated. CoinGlass recorded $195.34 million in 24-hour liquidations across the top 20 coins, with long liquidations accounting for $143.21 million. Pluang’s aggregate across Binance, Bybit, and OKX was higher at $224.2 million, mostly long positions. The wave of forced selling highlights how quickly bullish positioning unwound after Bitcoin reversed from around $84,000. Exchange bid liquidity was building near $82,000, while ask liquidity sat near $84,500, creating a narrow battleground for the next session.
5. FEAR & GREED INDEX SLIPS TO NEUTRAL
Fear & Greed Index fell from 58 to 55. The sentiment gauge returned to neutral territory, signaling growing caution. Total crypto market capitalization declined 2.84% to $2.81 trillion, according to Pluang, suggesting new capital inflows are stalling. In South Korea, BTC traded around KRW 111.4–111.6 million on Upbit and Bithumb, with slightly different intraday changes.
What to watch today: U.S. CPI data for September 2026, due October 14.
