Support Needed for Injured Mother in Ha Tinh Facing Critical Condition

A heartbreaking situation has unfolded in the quiet village of Tay Ha, Tan My Ha commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province. Ms. Nguyen Thị Lien (born 1979), the sole breadwinner of an extremely impoverished family, recently suffered a catastrophic accident. While attempting to retrieve dry food from a loft, she fell, suffering a severe brain injury, fractured cervical vertebrae, and broken ribs. She is currently fighting for her life in critical condition at the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital.

Ms. Lien’s family was already facing immense hardship before this tragedy. Her husband, Mr. Phan Cao Anh, suffers from severe brain atrophy and is unable to work, receiving a modest monthly disability allowance of under VND 500,000. Her elderly father-in-law is paralyzed due to a stroke, and her mother-in-law, Ms. Thai Thi Khoa (75), suffers from brain-related illnesses. The couple's 7-year-old daughter, Phan Cao Ky Duyen, is left in a state of constant worry, often eating only a single bowl of rice with pork fat as the family has completely run out of financial resources.

To pay for the emergency transport to the hospital, Ms. Khoa had to break her granddaughter’s piggy bank, which contained only VND 370,000 in lucky money. Local authorities and neighbors have rallied to support the family, but the medical expenses are overwhelming.
