Creative Visions: Episode 1 of the National Cultural Costume Design Competition Premieres

The 'National Cultural Costume Design' competition, organized by Sen Vang, has officially returned as part of the Miss National Vietnam 2024 pageant. Known for its ability to foster creativity and passion among young designers, the contest has once again captured the attention of audiences with its focus on the diverse cultures of Vietnam’s three regions: North, Central, and South.

The first episode, which aired on December 8, introduced an impressive panel of advisors, including Director Hoang Nhat Nam and ambassadors Thuy Tien, Luong Thuy Linh, and Bao Ngoc. The contestants are guided by three mentor teams: Van Thanh Cong - Vu Viet Ha, Pham Si Toan - Huynh Bao Toan, and Nguyen Minh Cong - Tin Thai. These mentors are tasked with sharing their expertise and helping young designers refine their creative visions.

This year’s competition features a mix of newcomers and familiar faces from previous seasons. The designs showcased in the first episode were diverse and highly creative, leading to intense competition among the mentor teams to recruit the most talented designers. Nguyen Trung Thanh, for example, made a strong impression with three distinct works, ultimately choosing to join the team of Nguyen Minh Cong and Tin Thai. Meanwhile, Quach Duong Phi’s 'Dieu Poon Poong' design triggered a 'block' move from Tin Thai to secure the designer for his team.

Other notable designs included 'Ruoc den trong trang' by Vu Huong Giang and 'Ganh hat boi' by Truong Thanh Vy, the latter of which sparked a heated bidding war between the mentors before joining team Van Thanh Cong - Vu Viet Ha. The episode concluded with all teams successfully gathering talented designers, setting the stage for what promises to be an extraordinary display of Vietnamese cultural identity.

With the final pageant scheduled for March and April 2024, the National Cultural Costume competition is a crucial part of the journey, honoring the beauty and values of Vietnamese heritage. As the season progresses, audiences can expect even more innovative designs that celebrate the soul of the nation.
