Vietnam Shines on Global Tech Stage Hosting ICPC Asia Pacific Championship

Vietnam is poised to elevate its status on the global information technology map as it hosts the prestigious 2024 ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) Asia Pacific Championship. Taking place at the VNU University of Technology from February 29 to March 3, 2024, this landmark event brings together the brightest young minds in computer science from across the region, showcasing Vietnam’s growing capability as a hub for high-tech education and talent development.

According to Mr. Nguyen Long, Chairman of ICPC Vietnam and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association for Information Processing, the ICPC is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming competition for university students worldwide. It serves as a prime hunting ground for global tech giants (BigTech) like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, who value the competition's emphasis on teamwork, problem-solving under pressure, and algorithmic thinking. Notable Vietnamese alumni of the contest have gone on to found successful startups and tech unicorns, including Kyber Network, Ahamove, and Axie Infinity.

Hosting this championship provides an invaluable opportunity for Vietnamese students to interact with top international talent and demonstrate their capabilities. Associate Professor Dr. Le Sy Vinh, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at VNU University of Technology, emphasized that the event will help international companies better understand the high quality of Vietnam's IT workforce. With 64 elite teams competing for 16 coveted spots at the World Finals in Kazakhstan, the 2024 ICPC Asia Pacific Championship is set to be a historic milestone for Vietnam's tech community.
