1. FED HOLDS RATES AT 3.75–4.00%
The Federal Reserve left the federal funds rate at 3.75–4.00% at the October 2026 FOMC meeting, following a 25bps increase in September. The vote was 10–2, with two officials favoring another 25bps hike; Chair Kevin Warsh said inflation remains high and that from 2027 the Fed will reduce the number of meetings with rate votes. Markets had priced a roughly 93% probability of a hold and still expect a hike in December.

2. WALL STREET RISES FOR THIRD SESSION, ORACLE SURGES
US stocks closed higher for a third straight session; S&P 500 added 0.28% to 7,743.98, Dow Jones rose 97.53 points (+0.19%) to 52,475.10, and Nasdaq Composite gained 0.27% to 26,549.85. Oracle jumped more than 11% after issuing a $225 billion fiscal 2030 revenue outlook, while AI and chip names advanced as SK Hynix posted record quarterly profit. The moves show continued investor appetite for technology and AI-linked equities.

3. TREASURY YIELDS WHIPSAW AFTER FED STATEMENT
US Treasury yields initially rose then reversed after Chair Warsh signaled a wait-and-see approach. The 2-year yield briefly topped 4.79% before falling to around 4.69%, while the 10-year yield edged up to about 5.02% from 4.99% late Tuesday. This reflects mixed investor reactions to the Fed's policy path.

4. OIL JUMPS AFTER HOUTHI MISSILE CLAIM ON SAUDI REFINERY
Yemen's Houthi movement claimed a missile strike on Saudi Arabia's largest refinery, with capacity around 550,000 barrels per day; Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the attack. According to AP, Brent crude rose about 2% to $111.64 a barrel, while WTI gained about 1.2% to $101.12. OPEC+ members were expected to keep December production targets unchanged at their Sunday meeting.

5. GOLD FALLS NEAR THREE-MONTH LOW
Gold dropped about 0.5% to around $4,030–$4,040 an ounce, near three-month lows. Pressure came from the Fed's hold, elevated Treasury yields near 5.04%, and inflation worries linked to higher oil prices. Gold may remain under pressure if yields stay on an upward trend.

6. ASIAN EQUITIES RALLY, KOSPI SURGES 6.6%
South Korea's Kospi jumped about 6.6% to 6,023.73 after SK Hynix reported record quarterly profit. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose about 1.1% to 63,954.19, Hong Kong's Hang Seng recovered about 0.2% to near 23,110, and China's CSI 300 gained 0.85%. Semiconductor stocks led gains as SK Hynix results reinforced AI demand expectations.

7. RBNZ HOLDS RATES, BANK OF CANADA HIKES 25BP
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand unexpectedly held the Official Cash Rate at 2.75% in a 4–3 split decision, defying expectations for a 25bp hike due to global uncertainty; the New Zealand dollar fell. The Bank of Canada raised its overnight rate by 25bp to 2.50%, its first increase since July 2023. The contrasting decisions show central banks are weighing growth and inflation risks differently.

8. EUROPEAN MARKETS MOSTLY STEADY AHEAD OF FED
The Stoxx Europe 600 edged up about 0.06–0.07% to near 644; Germany's DAX rose 0.44% to 25,704.02, the UK FTSE 100 added 0.07% to 10,694.50, while Spain's IBEX fell 1.45%. Stellantis jumped about 15% after results, and UK bank shares rose after the finance minister's bank-tax increase was smaller than feared. European investors awaited the Fed decision before taking clearer positions.

9. VIETNAM STOCK MARKET EDGES HIGHER
The VN-Index rose 4.78 points (+0.27%) to 1,766.65 and the HNX-Index added 0.36 point (+0.14%) to 259.86 on October 29. Liquidity remained below the 20-session average, reflecting cautious domestic sentiment.
