2. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 1.8% and Korea's Kospi rose 2.9% on Oct 27, while the Hang Seng fell 0.7%, according to NordFX.
3. Russia and Ukraine agreed to send technical delegates to Abu Dhabi in the first half of November, Mr. Zelensky said.
4. Brent fell 0.86% to $114.81 a barrel in early Asian trade, while Hormuz oil flows are only about 60% of normal.
5. Israeli polls close at 22:00 local time, or 03:00 on Oct 28 in Hanoi; Israeli media report a rift between Mr. Netanyahu and army chief Zamir.
1. ANTHROPIC FILES FOR NASDAQ IPO, META RAISES UP TO $95 BILLION, WALL STREET RISES
Anthropic has filed to list its shares on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, according to market reports from Techflow and ABC Australia. The offer price and the amount to be raised have not been set. The filing shows first-half revenue of about $16.3 billion and a net loss of about $80.7 billion, mostly non-cash losses from revaluing financial instruments rather than money spent. The company also disclosed computing contracts with minimum commitments of about $417 billion.
The same day, Meta opened an offering of about $35 billion in common stock and mandatory convertible preferred stock, with plans to sell up to $60 billion more once its new Class C shares start trading, for as much as $95 billion in total. Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom plan to buy up to $5 billion of the Class A shares. Meta stock fell 1.88% on dilution worries. Techflow also reports that SpaceX signed a roughly $40 billion equipment lease with Apollo to buy AI chips.
At Monday's close on Oct 26, the S&P 500 rose 0.70% to 7,676.77, the Nasdaq rose 0.82% to 26,169.38 and the Dow rose 0.28% to 52,361.58. The Philadelphia semiconductor index gained 2.82%. In Tuesday's Asian session, NordFX reports the Nikkei 225 rose 1.8% to 63,316 and the Kospi rose 2.9% to 5,626 after South Korea's third-quarter GDP grew 1.0% from the previous quarter, beating forecasts. The Hang Seng fell 0.7% to 23,058 even though China's industrial profits rose 14.4% from a year earlier. The Korean and Chinese figures so far have one source.
Background: money is pouring into companies building artificial intelligence infrastructure, so a big AI listing and a huge Meta raise arriving together is a test of how much investors will still pay. The Fed began its meeting today and announces its decision early on Oct 29 Hanoi time; NordFX says markets price about a 90% chance of no change, and high oil keeps inflation worries alive.
Strategic significance: The question for investors is whether more than $100 billion of new equity pulls money out of other tech stocks. For AI companies, a $417 billion computing commitment shows they are betting revenue will grow far faster than infrastructure costs. If the Fed signals a hike or oil jumps, richly priced deals will feel the pressure first. A smooth pricing, by contrast, would open the door for more AI firms to go public.
2. RUSSIA AND UKRAINE AGREE TO TECHNICAL TALKS IN ABU DHABI AS MISSILES STILL HIT KYIV AND ZAPORIZHZHIA
The new element since the last edition is a date window for talks: RTE reports Mr. Zelensky said delegates from Ukraine, Russia and the United States agreed to meet at a technical level in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November. No exact day has been set. Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's human rights commissioner, said Kyiv is honoring the Oleshky ceasefire, and Russia's defense ministry said it stopped shelling toward Kherson from 4 a.m. Moscow time.
Outside the ceasefire zone, fighting has not eased. The attack on Kyiv since last evening killed at least one person and injured 15, including students in a dormitory, and damaged the Southern Bridge and subway infrastructure. In Russian-held Zaporizhzhia, local officials say a drone hit a bus, killing one person and injuring 30. Both sides deny deliberately targeting civilians, and the figures have not been independently verified.
3. BRENT SLIPS TO $114.81, BUT OIL FLOWS THROUGH HORMUZ ARE ONLY ABOUT 60% OF NORMAL
According to Reuters via Business Recorder, at 11:18 Hanoi time Brent was down $1, or 0.86%, at $114.81 a barrel and WTI was down 88 cents at $100.88. Analysts called it profit-taking after multi-month highs, as the Tehran meeting raised hopes of easing. Prices topped $117 last week, the highest since April. Other outlets show Brent anywhere from about $110 to $116 because they price at different times.
Supply has not eased. Gulf crude exports fell for a fourth straight week, Hormuz flows are about 60% of normal, and October was the worst month for attacks on shipping in the area, according to a Washington think tank. Saudi Arabia says it intercepted three Houthi ballistic missiles aimed at its Eastern Province, while the Houthis say they targeted Riyadh airport, which had reopened only hours earlier. CBS reports Mr. Trump said on Sunday he was weighing a deal against a decisive strike, and Iran says indirect talks with the U.S. continue but its positions are unchanged.
4. ISRAEL VOTES AS MEDIA REPORT A RIFT BETWEEN MR. NETANYAHU AND HIS ARMY CHIEF
Israeli polls close at 22:00 local time, and TV channels publish exit polls right after, according to israel.com. No reliable turnout figure was available today. CBS reports Israeli media saw a disagreement between Prime Minister Netanyahu and army chief Eyal Zamir over a new directive on Iran, which Defense Minister Katz called entirely baseless. Mr. Netanyahu campaigned on promising to finish the job against Iran, so how he handles the military could shape the next move in the Gulf if he keeps his seat.
NEXT 48–72 HOURS
The nearest marker is Israel's exit polls at 03:00 on Oct 28 Hanoi time and early results after that. The Fed announces its rate decision early on Oct 29 Hanoi time, the same day Alphabet and Microsoft report earnings. Oct 29 is also the expected day for the aid convoy to reach Oleshky, for Bank of England and ECB rate decisions, and for US GDP and PCE inflation data. The Bank of Japan meets on Oct 30. Watch whether Brent holds above or below $110, and whether pricing for Anthropic's shares and Meta's raise is set this week.
