Nguyen Tien Thanh, a 32-year-old office worker from Hai Phong, recently pushed his physical and mental limits by conquering three of Vietnam's highest mountain peaks in just three days. Driven by a desire to maximize his time in the scenic Northwest, Thanh bypassed traditional slow-paced tours to complete a 'triple crown' of trekking: Ta Chi Nhu, Lung Cung, and Ta Xua. His journey is an inspiring tale for adventure seekers looking to explore the rugged beauty of Yen Bai and Son La provinces.

Thanh's adventure began on March 4th at Ta Chi Nhu, the 'Roof of Yen Bai,' standing at 2,979 meters. Known for its sea of clouds and blooming azaleas, the climb provided a stunning start to his mission. By the second day, he moved to the Tu San village to tackle Lung Cung peak. The final and most difficult challenge was Ta Xua (2,865m). This peak is famous for its 'dinosaur backbone'—a narrow, treacherous ridge that requires hikers to cling to cables while navigating steep drops. Thanh noted that while the climb was exhausting, the reward was the ethereal mossy forests that look like something out of a fantasy movie.

To prepare for such a grueling schedule, Thanh maintained a strict training regimen of gym sessions, cycling, and 'desk-side squats' during work hours. He also emphasized the importance of proper gear, including high-quality waterproof trekking shoes and trekking poles to protect the knees during steep descents. March is the ideal time for this route, as the weather is clear and the mountain flowers are in full bloom. For Thanh, the trip was more than just a physical feat; it was a way to decompress from office life and witness the majestic sunrises and sunsets of the highlands. His story serves as a practical guide for anyone aiming to reach the summits of Northwest Vietnam.
