00Hanoi is preparing to unveil a monumental addition to its cultural landscape: the new Vietnam Military History Museum. Located in the Tay Mo ward of Nam Tu Liem district, this massive project is being developed with a total investment of 2.5 trillion VND. Spanning an impressive 74.3 hectares, the museum is designed to be a world-class facility that tells the story of Vietnam’s heroic struggle for independence. The architecture is a blend of modern simplicity and intuitive historical flow, featuring four floors above ground and one basement level. With a total floor area of over 64,000 square meters and a height of nearly 36 meters, the building itself is a testament to the nation's progress.
The museum is not just about static displays; it incorporates advanced multimedia technology and directional sound systems to create an interactive experience for visitors. This allows for a deeper engagement with the artifacts and the stories they represent. Currently, many iconic pieces of military hardware, including fighter jets, transport planes, and tanks, have been moved from the old museum site to be displayed in the spacious front yard. These artifacts serve as powerful symbols of the military's evolution from the early days of the Hung Kings to the modern Ho Chi Minh era.
According to Colonel Le Vu Huy, the museum's director, the exhibitions will be divided into 8 main themes, 7 specialized collections, and 12 military branches. The first phase of the opening will focus on six themes covering the chronological history of Vietnam's defense. The museum's strategic location near the Vinhomes Smart City and Thang Long Avenue ensures easy access for both domestic and international tourists. Future infrastructure developments, including a bridge over the Nhue River, will further connect the museum to the My Dinh National Sports Complex, making it a central hub for history and culture. This museum is set to become a must-visit destination for anyone looking to understand the resilience and spirit of the Vietnamese people.
