On the night of February 7th, which marks the 28th day of the Lunar December, thousands of residents gathered at the Nguyen Dinh Thi - Trich Sai area near West Lake to witness a rehearsal for what is being hailed as the largest drone show in Southeast Asia. This artistic display, titled 'One Day in the Capital - A Thousand Years of History,' is designed to encapsulate the essence of Thang Long’s thousand-year heritage through modern technology.

The rehearsal provided a stunning preview of the official show scheduled for New Year's Eve. The 2,024 drones—a number chosen to symbolize the year of the Dragon—maneuvered with incredible precision to form iconic symbols of Vietnamese history. Spectators were treated to glowing recreations of the 'Chieu doi do' (Edict on the Transfer of the Capital) and the majestic image of a dragon ascending from the historic land of Thang Long. Local authorities and the implementation team have confirmed that the official 'Hanoi Artistic Light Festival - Brilliant Thang Long' will take place from 11:30 PM on February 9th (New Year's Eve) until 12:15 AM on February 10th (the first day of the Lunar New Year). The event will be divided into two main parts: the high-tech drone light show followed by a high-altitude fireworks display. For those unable to attend in person at West Lake, the program will be broadcast live during the special New Year's Eve television bridge by Vietnam Television (VTV), ensuring the entire nation can share in this historic moment.
