Outstanding Journalism Celebrated at 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards

The prestigious 8th National Press Awards on Party Building, widely known as the Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards, took place in Hanoi, coinciding with the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This annual event honors outstanding journalistic achievements that reflect the country’s political, economic, and social development. Out of 2,216 entries submitted from across the nation, the judging panel selected 72 exceptional works to receive awards, including 6 'A' grade prizes, 12 'B' prizes, 18 'C' prizes, and 30 consolation prizes.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony and delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the vital role of journalism in building a transparent and strong political system. He noted that the awards have grown in influence over the past eight years, fostering a deep sense of professional ethics and political responsibility among journalists. The submitted works covered critical contemporary issues, including administrative reforms, fighting corruption, promoting cultural values, and protecting the Party’s ideological foundations. Many articles also highlighted innovative local models and praised individuals who demonstrate courage and creativity in their public duties.

Among the honored media outlets, VietNamNet was proudly awarded a consolation prize for its insightful 5-part series titled 'Special Party Members in Border Areas.' Authored by a dedicated team of journalists—Le Van Duong, Tran Quoc Huy, Tran Ba Nghi, and Tran Van Tuyên—the series vividly depicted the lives of ethnic minority party members and their efforts to build strong grassroots communities in remote border regions. The success of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards underscores the power of constructive journalism in inspiring national unity and driving sustainable development.
