Viet Tri House is a remarkable 3-story renovation project located in the heart of Viet Tri City, Phu Tho. Originally a traditional 'tube house' (5m x 19.5m), the property faced significant challenges, including a cramped layout, poor ventilation, and a harsh West-facing orientation that made the interior unbearably hot. The team at I.House architects took on the challenge of transforming this 292.5m2 space into a peaceful retreat that prioritizes natural cooling and aesthetic harmony. The primary solution for the West-facing heat was the implementation of a 'green curtain'—a series of vertical hanging gardens on the facade that act as a natural thermal buffer, filtering sunlight and reducing noise from the busy street outside.

The renovation completely restructured the home’s flow. The staircase and entrance hall were moved to the front to create a large atrium (void), which serves as a circulation hub for fresh air and natural light. By pushing the functional living areas further back, the architects created 'buffer zones' that keep the private rooms cool and quiet. The use of authentic, raw materials like grey laterite stone (đá ong xám) and polished concrete provides a consistent, earthy feel throughout both the interior and exterior. These materials not only age beautifully but also contribute to the house's thermal mass, keeping it cool during the day.

Inside, the connection to nature is undeniable. Large glass panels allow residents to enjoy views of the greenery from almost any vantage point, whether it's a sunny day or a rainy afternoon. The ground floor houses the garage, living room, and kitchen, while the upper floors are dedicated to tranquil bedrooms and common spaces that feel open and airy. This project is a testament to the power of thoughtful renovation, proving that even the most challenging urban plots can be turned into sustainable, light-filled sanctuaries that offer a true sense of 'coming home' for the family.
