00The historic Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival in Me Linh District, Hanoi, has officially opened, bringing to life the indomitable spirit of Vietnam's legendary national heroines. The grand anniversary and opening ceremony attracted several high-ranking state officials, including Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, former Vice President Truong My Hoa, and various leaders from Hanoi and surrounding provinces. The event serves as a powerful tribute to the historic uprising of the Trung Sisters (Trung Trac and Trung Nhi) against the Eastern Han dynasty nearly 2,000 years ago, marking the first major milestone in Vietnam's history of national defense.
During the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Me Linh District People's Committee, Hoang Anh Tuấn, delivered an inspiring speech recalling the heroic struggle of the Trung Sisters. He emphasized that the Trung Sisters' uprising remains a brilliant symbol of Vietnamese patriotism. Following their victory, the sisters declared themselves queens, established their capital, and laid the foundation for national sovereignty, making them the first female kings of Vietnam and pioneering female leaders globally. Ha Thi Nga, President of the Vietnam Women's Union, also highlighted the historical significance of the uprising, noting how it united female generals and citizens from all regions to reclaim national independence.
A major highlight of this year's spring festival was the debut of 'Am Vang Me Linh' (Echoes of Me Linh), an extraordinary art performance that combined history with cutting-edge technology. For the first time in Me Linh, a semi-real-scene artistic show utilized state-of-the-art 3D mapping and LED matrix technology to recreate the epic story of the Trung Sisters. The show beautifully connected the past, present, and future, delivering a powerful educational message through a seamless blend of light, sound, music, and traditional performance arts.
Spectators were treated to a multi-sensory experience featuring singing, choreography, circus arts, and traditional drum performances. The show effectively transported the audience back to the ancient land of Au Lac, allowing them to immerse themselves in the early days of nation-building and national preservation. This innovative approach to historical storytelling not only pays tribute to the ancestors but also serves as a valuable educational tool for students, tourists, and the younger generation.
The Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival and the 'Am Vang Me Linh' art program represent a successful effort to develop cultural and spiritual tourism in Hanoi. By blending traditional rituals like palanquin processions and folk games with modern technological showcases, the festival fosters a deep sense of national pride, reminding every Vietnamese citizen of the country's resilient heritage and the timeless value of national solidarity.
